  • With the addition of the five new items, the count of registered items on the GI portal for West Bengal will reach 27.
  • Formerly Bengal had 22 items with Geographical Indication tags. However, as of January 2024, five new items have been included, bringing the total count of items with GI tags to 27.

The 5 new items are:

  • 1. Sundarbans’ natural honey
  • 2. Jalpaiguri’s Kalo Nunia rice
  • 3. Garad Saree (Murshidabad)
  • 4. Korial Saree (Nadia)
  • 5. Tangail saree (East Burdwan)
