These, different global indicators and rankings indicate the performance of a country by measuring various socio-economic indicators or factors as well as political indicators. India’s Ranking in Different Indexes 2023: Recent Updates
The World Happiness Report 2023
▪ Finland is ranked as the happiest country in the world for the sixth consecutive year according to the 2023 World Happiness Report.
▪ India’s position in the report has improved from 136 to 126.
▪ Denmark, Iceland, Israel, and the Netherlands are the next happiest countries after Finland.
▪ Other European countries such as Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, and Luxembourg also made it to the top 10.
▪ The rankings are based on data from the main life evaluation question in the Gallup World Poll, which measures how happy citizens perceive themselves to be.
Global Terrorism Index 2023
▪ Afghanistan has remained the country most affected by terrorism for four years in a row, according to the tenth Global Terrorism Index (GTI) report.
▪ Although attacks and deaths in Afghanistan have decreased by 75% and 58%, respectively, it remains the most impacted country by terrorism.
▪ India is ranked 13th on the index, with only a marginal decrease from the previous year.
▪ Despite being among the 25 worst-hit countries, Indian respondents did not consider war and terrorism as the biggest threat to their daily safety.
▪ The GTI report is based on data that measures the impact of terrorism in various countries.
Henley Passport Index 2023
▪ India has been ranked 84th in the list of the world’s most powerful passports for 2023, with visa-free access to 59 destinations globally.
