About The Kashi Yatra Scheme

• Kashi Jatra is a religious scheme by which one can attend the religious ceremony with the financial support of the government.

• The scheme is launched by the government of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai.

• Under this scheme, the government will provide cash assistance of Rs 5000 for the pilgrims.

• The government in its order has approved the commissioner of the religious endowment department to use Rs 7 crore in the funds sanctioned for Kashi Jatra.

Kashi Yatra Scheme, quick facts

• The Kashi Yatra project, offers cash assistance of Rs 5,000 to each of the pilgrims.

• Currently, the Karnataka government is providing this facility for 30,000 pilgrims.

• Under the Kashi Jatra project, pilgrims will be able to visit and worship at the Kashi Bishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

• Total funds approved for this scheme is 7 crore.

Who will get the benefit of the scheme?

• According to a statement by Shashikala Jole, Minister for Religious Endowments, Hajj and Waqf, those who wish to avail the facility must be residents of Karnataka and provide documents proving their residence in their state, such as a voter ID, Aadhaar card. , Or ration card.

• According to the minister, candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have to provide documentation of their age.

• Pilgrims will be able to take advantage of this government scheme once in a lifetime.

• According to Shashikala Jol, those who have made the pilgrimage between April 1 and June 30 and want to benefit from the “Kashi Jatra” scheme are eligible.

Guidelines for pilgrims under the Kashi Yatra scheme

• Under this scheme, all pilgrims must show proof that they have visited the Kashi Bishwanath Temple, such as their visit ticket, waiting list, or “puja receipt.”

• They must provide it to the Commissioner of Religious Endowments Department in the format prescribed.

• According to Jole, pilgrims would only be able to participate in the government-sponsored “Kashi Yatra” once in a lifetime.

Eligibility to apply for the scheme

  1. The beneficiary should be a native of Karnataka
  2. Applicant should be above 18 years old
  3. Beneficiaries who have already received a subsidy are not eligible

Documents required for the Kashi Yatra scheme

  1. Evidence of the residence of the beneficiaries in Karnataka – voter ID, Aadhaar card or ration card.
  2. Age proof – Aadhaar card, voter ID etc.
