Odisha Gold Mine In News
▪ The Steel and Mines Minister of Odisha, Prafulla Mallik, has informed the state Assembly that gold reserves have been discovered in three districts of the state.
▪ The surveys conducted by the Directorate of Mines and the Geological Survey of India (GSI) have revealed the presence of gold reserves in the Deogarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts.
▪ According to the statement presented in the House, the GSI experts have detected an estimated 1,685 kg of gold ore, along with copper, in the Adas area of Deogarh.
▪ The directorate of mines and geology conducted a survey and found gold reserves in several areas of Keonjhar, including Gopur, Gajipur, Kusakala, Adal, Saleikana, Dimirimunda, and Karadanga.
▪ During a survey conducted in the Telkoi tehsil area between 1989-96, geologists detected one gram of gold per tonne ore in two quartz veins.
▪ In the Gopur area, the team detected 2.5 gm to 10 gm of gold per one-tonne ore in a quartz vein measuring 60 metres in length and one metre in width, according to preliminary estimations.
