Chief Minister Mamata Bandhapadhyay has recently announced the new scholarship program, however, there are currently limited details available. We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.

Introduction
▪ The government has implemented several developmental projects in the field of education, which have been well-received across the country and have also received international recognition.
▪ Among these projects, a special mention can be made of Medhashree, which is aimed at providing special assistance to the education of underprivileged and low-achievers in the state.
▪ This project will play a major role in the development of the education of these students in the state.
Beneficiaries of this Medhashree Scheme
▪ The state’s Chief Minister announced this special scholarship at an administrative meeting held in Hasimara, Alipurduar.
▪ According to the Chief Minister’s announcement, from now on, all students from the OBC (Other Backward Class) category who reside in Bengal will be eligible to receive scholarship money under this project.
How much money will be given under Medhashree Scholarship?
▪ All OBC students in the state will get a government allowance or scholarship of Rs 800 under the newly launched Medha Shri scholarship scheme.

▪ Kanyashree: Special scholarship to support the higher education of girls in Bengal.
▪ Oikyasree: Special scholarship for minority community students of the state.
▪ Shikshashree: Special scholarships for about 11 lahks Scheduled Caste-Tribe students in the state.
▪ Medhasree: Special scholarship for all OBC students in the state.
▪ Swami Vivekananda Scholarship: The needy and meritorious students of the state whose annual family income is less than 2.50 lakh rupees and who have obtained 60 percent or more marks in Secondary-Higher-Secondary-Graduation will get Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 under this scholarship.
