India's First Lighthouse Festival was inaugurated in Goa to promote Lighthouses as Tourist Destinations.
The Indian Lighthouse Festival also known as ‘Bharatiya Prakash Sthamb Utsav’. It's a three-day event inaugurated in Goa.
The festival was inaugurated by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) at Fort Aguada in Panjim, Goa
The festival was celebrated across all the lighthouses in India to promote historic spots i.e. Lighthouses as tourist destinations.
India has at least 203 lighthouses spread across its 7,517 km coastline.
The festival also Promote PPP to transform India's historic lighthouses into global tourist attractions, highlighting their maritime heritage.
The Central Government has selected 75 Lighthouses for the festival. This transformation will be done under the campaign 'Lighthouse Heritage Tourism'.
