West Bengal has 4692 sq. Km of forests under the Protected Area (PA) network, which is 39.50% of the State’s recorded forest area. 

At present West Bengal has 6 National Parks and 16 Wildlife Sanctuaries.

The latest notified Wildlife Sanctuaries of West Bengal is the Pakhi Bitan Wildlife Sanctuaries, located in Jalpaiguri
