The world's longest luxury river cruise covers a distance of nearly 4,000 km.

It will start in January 2023, said Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal.

The luxury river cruise called Ganga Vilas Cruise, connects Uttar Pradesh with Dibrugarh.

The luxury ship will depart from Varanasi and reach Dibrugarh in Assam via Kolkata and Dhaka.

The luxury cruise will also pass through national parks and sanctuaries including the Sundarbans Delta and Kaziranga National Park.

The first journey will start on January 10 from Varanasi; The cruise will reach Bogibeel in Assam's Dibrugarh district on March 1.

This 4000 km journey will take 50 days and this Ganga Vilas cruise will have to cross a total of 27 rivers.

Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), Antara Luxury River Cruises and JM Baxi River Cruises will operate the cruise under the PPP model.
