West Bengal Budget 2023-24: Key Points, All you need to Know

Chandrima Bhattacharya, the state minister of finance for West Bengal, presented the state budget for the fiscal year 2023-24.

The West Bengal government led by CM Mamata Banerjee presented a budget of Rs 3.39-lakh crore for the fiscal year 2023-24.

The budget speech included several major announcements, such as initiatives to boost the start-up ecosystem, promote the manufacturing industry, and improve rural connectivity.

DA Hike

Additional 3 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) to State Government Employees and Retirees.

Stamp Duty Rebate

Extension of the stamp duty rebate For Home Buyers till 30 September 2023.

Startup Fund

Startup fund of Rs 350 crore would be established to provide financial assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh to young entrepreneurs.

Agricultural income tax exemption

The agricultural income tax levied on tea gardens for the fiscal years 2023-24 and 2024-25 would be waived.

Allocation for Construction of Rural Roads

To enhance last-mile connectivity, the government would construct 12,500 km of rural roads at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore.
