World Environment Day is celebrated around the world  on June 5 every year.

The aim of the day is to raise environmental awareness and motivate people to take steps to protect the environment.

The theme of World Environment Day 2022 is Only One Earth, focusing on "Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature".

The World Environment Day was celebrated for the first time in 1974.

Campaigns and initiatives taken by  the Government  of India on the occasion of World Environment Day 2022 to protect the environment.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch a global initiative ‘Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) Movement’ on 5th June 2022.

The idea of LiFE was introduced by the Prime Minister during the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow last year.

It will launch the 'Life Global Call  for Papers' program which invites ideas and suggestions for adopting an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launches “Clean and Green” campaign on World Environment Day.

The campaign was aimed at freeing the country from single use plastics (SUPs).

The Indian government has banned single use plastics from July 1, 2022.

The campaign will include large scale cleaning and plogging drives, with special emphasis on .......

plastic waste collection, as well as large scale tree plantation drives, with participation of all citizens.

Participants:- students, voluntary organisations, self-help groups, local NGOs/CSOs, NSS and NCC cadets, RWAs, market associations, corporate entities, etc.  

 On the occasion of World Environment Day 2022, Jagadish "Jaggi" Basudev launched  "Save the Soil Movement".

PM Modi will attend  the  'Save the Earth Movement' program on June 5 at the Science Building in New Delhi.

Jagadish "Jaggi" Vasudev is popularly known as Sadhguru.

The 'Save the Soil Movement' was launched to raise awareness about the deteriorating health of the soil.
