  • The Prime Minister of Nepal has triggered the last blast to mark the completion of heading excavation for the 11.8 km long Head Race Tunnel of the 900 MW Arun-3 Hydro Electric Project. This project is being executed by the subsidiary of SJVN Limited.
  • The Department of Fisheries, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with NHPC Limited for the implementation of a comprehensive Fisheries Management Plan at the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project (SLP).
  • GAIL (India) has planned to establish a 1500 KTA Ethane Cracker Project with an estimated investment of Rs 60,000 crore at Sehore, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has committed USD 105 million to part-finance a 550 megawatt peak (MWp) solar power project at Bikaner.
  • The Union Cabinet has approved the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) proposal for the development of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (VNS) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This project has been approved with a total financial outlay of Rs 2869.65 crore.
  • The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in collaboration with the Australian Government, hosted a roundtable to discuss insights from the Australia-India Critical Agriculture Skills Pilot Project, aimed at reshaping the agricultural sector by identifying and developing emerging job roles.
  • China has launched an astronomical satellite named Space-based Multi-band Variable Object Monitor (SVOM) to capture gamma-ray bursts that flicker like fireworks in the farthest reaches of the universe. China has collaborated with France on this project.

May 2024

  • The embassy of Israel in India, in collaboration with the Million Miyawaki Foundation, officially joined the ‘Million Miyawaki’ project.
  • India agreed to grant USD 61.5 million for the Kankesanthurai Port project in Sri Lanka.
  • India launched Project ISHAN to unify its four airspace regions into one covering the entire nation.
