◾ NATO countries have agreed to increase defence spending to 5% of GDP annually, with Türkiye set to host the next NATO Summit in 2026.
◾ The 11th edition of India Maize Summit was held in New Delhi, organised by FICCI in association with Indian Institute of Maize Research (IIMR), with the theme “Reimagining Maize: Innovation, Integration & Sustainability for a Resilient Future”.
◾ The 17th BRICS Summit (2025) was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with the theme “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for a More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance”, and India will chair BRICS in 2026 and host the 18th BRICS Summit.
◾ The Youth Spiritual Summit to foster a national resolve against drug abuse was hosted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in Varanasi.
◾ The maiden National Conference of Chairpersons of Urban Local Bodies was inaugurated at the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar.
◾ Saima Wazed received the Mental Health Award 2025 at the 24th Annual International Mental Health Conference (IMHC) held in Bangkok, Thailand.
◾ The PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan Dissemination Portal was launched during the National Conference on Curricular and Assessment Equivalence of Boards and Improving Learning Outcomes held in New Delhi.
◾ The 3rd National Conference on Responsible Business Conduct (NCRBC) 2025 was organised by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) to strengthen ESG practices in India.

◾ The 3rd National Conference ‘Shalyacon 2025’, themed “Innovation, Integration, and Inspiration”, was inaugurated in New Delhi by the Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, organised by All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in collaboration with the National Sushruta Association (NSA).
◾ The National Conference on Good Governance Practices was inaugurated in Bhubaneswar, Odisha by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in collaboration with the Government of Odisha.
June 2025
◾ Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh launched the “Battery Aadhaar Initiative” at the Battery Summit 2025 in New Delhi to monitor batteries throughout their lifecycle. The summit was organized by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) in collaboration with the World Resources Institute (WRI) India.
◾ Prime Minister of India addressed the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) 81st Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the World Air Transport Summit (WATS) in New Delhi. The event was hosted by IndiGo.
◾ India launched ‘BharatGen’, a first-of-its-kind AI model for multilingual innovation, at the BharatGen Summit in New Delhi. It has been developed under NM-ICPS and implemented through the TIH Foundation for IoT & IoE at IIT Bombay.
◾ The Ministry of Ayush hosted the ‘Yoga Connect’ hybrid global summit in New Delhi on the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, organized by the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN).
◾ The Health20 (H20) Summit 2025 was organized in Geneva to assess global health challenges and propose recommendations to G20 and G7 to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
◾ Prime Minister of India participated in the 51st G7 Summit, which was hosted by Canada.
◾ The 7th Helicopter & Small Aircraft Summit was organized in Pune, Maharashtra by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, Pawan Hans Ltd., and FICCI.

- Brazil launched the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty during the opening of the G20 Summit 2024.

More About Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF)
- The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) was adopted during the 2022 United Nations Biodiversity Conference.
- Initially known as the “Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework”, it was renamed upon adoption.
- COP15 to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) adopted the GBF on December 19, 2022.
- A comprehensive package of decisions adopted at COP15 will support and guide the framework’s implementation.
- The GBF is often referred to as the “Paris Agreement for Nature”, highlighting its global importance.
- This framework is a landmark agreement under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and has been described as a “historic moment” for humanity and the planet.
- Named after Kunming (China) and Montreal (Canada), the framework reflects the initial hosting plan by Kunming, which was later moved to Montreal due to COVID-19 restrictions in China.
- The GBF supports the Sustainable Development Goals and builds upon previous CBD Strategic Plans, aiming to achieve a vision of a world living in harmony with nature by 2050.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 16th BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia.

- BRICS Pay: A new payment system named BRICS Pay was introduced to facilitate transactions and exchange financial information between central banks of member countries, providing an alternative to SWIFT.
BRICS Kazan Declaration:
- The declaration was adopted, with BRICS nations advocating for UN and Security Council reforms.
- The declaration endorses State of Palestine’s full participation in the United Nations, based on the two-state solution.
BRICS Plus/Outreach Session:

Expansion of BRICS Partners:
- 13 new partner countries were added to BRICS: Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
India-China Relations:
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed a recent agreement with China on “complete disengagement and resolution” of the 2020 border issues, marking the first bilateral meeting between the leaders since 2020.

- China-Russia: Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin reaffirmed their strategic partnership, focusing on advancing the Belt and Road Initiative and Eurasian Economic Union integration.
- India-China: PM Modi and President Xi resolved a four-year military standoff, seeking to strengthen ties between the two nations.
- India-Iran: PM Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the Chabahar Port, Afghanistan reconstruction, economic trade linkages to Central Asia, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
- Russia-South Africa: South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and President Putin held a meeting where Ramaphosa expressed appreciation for Russia’s support during apartheid, affirming South Africa’s alliance with Russia.
