India has two main groups of islands – the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal and the Lakshadweep Islands in the Arabian Sea.
Along with these big island groups, there are many smaller islands all along the coast of India. Some islands are found in rivers too, like Majuli in the Brahmaputra River in Assam.
India has 1,382 islands, including those where no one lives. But, it’s important to know about the most significant ones for exams.
